Hummingbirds beat their wings up to 80 times a second. They're the only bird that can fly backward. They weigh less than a nickel and they migrate thousands of miles anyway.
They're also the only bird that has to keep moving just to stay still. Maybe that's why they feel like joy when one shows up — they're proof that the smallest, fastest thing in the room can also be the most present.
Hand-drawn in my sketchbook, then embroidered as a patch onto a premium Cotton Heritage hoodie soft enough to live in.
